How Much Water is in Watermelon?
Watermelon is renowned for its exceptional water content, making it a juicy and refreshing fruit. With its vibrant red flesh and crisp texture, watermelon is composed primarily of water. In fact, watermelon is comprised of approximately 92% water, making it an excellent choice for staying hydrated on hot summer days.
Is Watermelon High in Potassium?
If you can believe it, watermelon has even more potassium than a banana. Two wedges of watermelon, contains 640mg of potassium, compared to 487mg of potassium in 1 large banana. This amount of potassium meets 19% of the DV for men, and 25% for women.

So today, we’re diving into the world of plant-fusion drinks to keep you hydrated all summer long. And what better fruit to kickstart your hydrating journey than watermelon?
Three Versions of Fresh Watermelon Juice
Watermelon Mint Juice
First up, we have Watermelon and Mint Juice. This combination is like a match made in summer heaven. The sweetness of the watermelon perfectly complements the refreshing coolness of the mint. Simply blend fresh watermelon chunks with a handful of mint leaves.
Watermelon Cherry Juice
Next on our list is Watermelon Cherry Juice. Cherries are bursting with antioxidants and flavor, and when mixed with watermelon, they create a delightful medley of tastes. Blend together watermelon chunks with your fresh or frozen cherries. And voila – a vibrant and nourishing drink that will keep you cool and hydrated.
Watermelon Pineapple Juice
Last but not least, we have Watermelon Pineapple Juice. Pineapple adds a tropical twist to this already-refreshing drink. The tanginess of the pineapple balances the natural sweetness of watermelon, creating a tropical paradise in a glass to transport you to an island getaway.
How to Cut Watermelon to Make Juice
To cut a watermelon and make juice, follow these simple steps:
- Select a ripe and firm watermelon. Look for a watermelon that feels heavy for its size and has a dull, uniform exterior without any bruises or soft spots.
- Wash the watermelon thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or bacteria from the surface.
- Using a sharp knife, carefully slice off both ends of the watermelon to create a stable base for cutting.
- Stand the watermelon upright on one of its flat ends. Starting from the top, make vertical cuts down the sides of the watermelon to remove the rind. Follow the contour of the fruit and cut deep enough to remove the green outer layer and the white part of the rind, revealing the juicy red flesh.
- Once the rind is removed, cut the watermelon into smaller, manageable chunks. You can choose to cut them into cubes, wedges, or any other size that suits your preference. Then you can easily place the pieces in the blender with the fruit variations below!
When is Watermelon Season?
Watermelon season typically varies based on the geographic location and climate. In general, watermelon is considered a summer fruit and is at its peak of freshness and availability during the warmer months.
In the Northern Hemisphere, watermelon season typically starts in late spring or early summer, around May or June, and extends through the summer months, ending in September or October.
However, it’s important to note that the exact timing may vary depending on the specific region and local growing conditions. In some areas with milder climates or longer growing seasons, watermelon may be available for a slightly extended period. It’s best to check with local farmers’ markets or grocery stores to determine the precise watermelon season in your area!
