Try making fresh hummus at home instead of buying it! This hummus doesn’t container preservatives but it does contain some colorful vegetables. It also has the same texture as regular hummus.

Ingredients:
Purple Hummus:
5 ounces chickpeas, drained
5 ounces purple carrots, peeled, steamed
1 tablespoon tahini (sesame butter)
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 pinch salt
1 pinch pepper
3 garlic cloves
White Hummus:
5 ounces chickpeas, drained
5 ounces white carrots, peeled, steamed
1 tablespoon tahini (sesame butter)
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 pinch salt
1 pinch pepper
3 garlic cloves
Orange Hummus:
5 ounces chickpeas, drained
5 ounces orange carrots, peeled, steamed
1 tablespoon tahini (sesame butter)
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 pinch salt
1 pinch pepper
3 garlic cloves
Directions:
*Different colored hummus all have the same preparation
1. In a food processor, combine all the ingredients. Occasionally scrape down the sides and add room temperature water until desired texture is achieved. (Roughly 2 tablespoons)
2. Serve as a dip with fresh vegetables, chips, or other crisps
