The FDA (Food and Drug Administration), which is the agency charged with establishing the serving sizes of food, recently made some exciting changes. They increased the serving size of avocado from 1/5 of a medium avocado to 1/3 of a medium avocado, or 50 grams of avocado. This new serving size has about 80 calories and provides you with11 % of your daily value for fiber and 10% of your daily value of folate, as well as 6%of your daily value for potassium.
In the video above, I show you the right way to cut and peel the avocado to get the best nutrition possible. It is important to know that after cutting the avocado, you must keep the dark green area on the fruit and not on the peel. Why? Because here is where you find the greatest concentration of beneficial, complex phytonutrients, includingcarotenoids. Although not essential, it has been shown through research that thesephytonutrients can help promote human health.
So what does that mean for us and the reboot servings? We have updated our system to now reflect these changes. Below is a quick reference table.

Avocado, 1/3 serving size | 1 serving | 1.5 Fat |
Now remember to keep within your reboot servings and keep up with your food record keeping.
